The Faculty of Computer and Information consists of the Computer Science and Technology department, Electronic Information Engineering department, Communication Engineering department, Central laboratory, Institute of Microcomputer Application Etc.

The Faculty of Computer and Information prides itself on its 193 professors and staffs. There are & Ph.D supervisor , 16 porfessors , and more than 30 master-student supervisors in total .

The FCI now has 5 undergraduate majors i.e Computer Science and Technology ; Information Security, Communication Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Electronic Information Science and Technology; 4 Master's degree authorization points i.e Computer Application Technology, Computer Software and Theory, Signal and Information Processing ; Electro circuit and System ; 3 Engineering Master authorization field i.e Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics and Communication Technology ;One doctorate degree authorization point , i.e. Applied Computer Technology , which was granted as early as 1986 .In 2002 , there were 1818 undergraduate-students , 310 FCI master students and Ph.D students in FCI.

The FCI takes on dozens of projects annually which include The Natural Science Foundation , 863 scientific & research projects at both state and provincial level . The fund far exceeds 10 million RMB Yuan . In recent years , the Faculty was awarded one the Third Class National Science Progress Award, more than 40 Provincial and Departmental Science Progress Awards .

The FCI has a strong scientific research strength in the field of Intelligent Control, Sohema recognition , CAD/CG, Image Analysis and Porcessing, DSP Application Technology, Software Engineering and Environment, Computer Network, Management Information System, Signal Detecting and Information Porcessiong, Non-Damage Flaw Detecting, Artificial Intelligence Etc .

The FCI student delegation won more than 20 at both top and second level awards in the National and USA Mathematics Modeling Competitions, the Second or Third level of awards in the "Challenge Cup", and excellent results in the National College Electronic Works Design competition and The Asia and Pacific Region Programming competition.
